1948-1956 Truck Parts
In 1948, Ford replaced their car-based pickup trucks with the first ever F-series truck, the Ford Bonus Built. Its build was similar to the pickup trucks still on the market today. The original series had eight different models to choose from, with the most popular being the F-1, a half-ton with a 6.5-foot bed.
The F-series saw a revamp in 1953. Model names were changed to the ones still used today (the F-1 became the F-100, the F-2 became the F-250, etc.). Automatic transmission was offered for the first time, as well as many smaller amenities, such as lighters and radios.
